    Basic First Aid/CPR Training


    *Required training if you plan to take troop trips.

     

    This training is for adults and girls 15 years and over. Those who pass the class will earn their Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.  This course requires on-line prerequisite course work. Please print and bring with you the online certificates as proof of completion. Once you are registered, we will send you the link for the online course work.  Please bring a sack lunch.

    New Leader Training

    *Training required of all incoming leaders.

    So, you have answered the call to action, joined as an adult Girl Scout Volunteer and you can’t wait to get her there, now what?  Spend some time with us reviewing the essential elements of the Girl Scout Leadership  Experience and learn how to engage girls in a way that promotes girl-led decision making, encourages girls to learn by doing and supports cooperative learning.  We will help you jump start your journey to learn the who, what, when, where, and why of being a troop leader and volunteering with Girl Scout of Greater Mississippi.  This training should be completed within 30 days of registering as a Girl Scout Volunteer.

    Outdoor Living Skills

    *Required training to take your troop camping.

    Learn the skills necessary to take your troop camping on your own!  This course is not required to attend council sponsored events, but it is a requirement for you to take your troop or service unit camping.  The training will allow participants to teach girls safe principles for hiking, building fires, and preparing meals.  Other basic skills explored will be knot tying, basic map and compass reading, and care of the natural environment.  You will experience outdoor cooking and using a variety of shelters.  During this training you will also learn the skills to needed to guide your girls through the Outdoor Living Skills patch program from the American Camp Association designed to help girls learn basic outdoor skills.

    Small Craft Training

    Earn the certification that you need to take your troop/group canoeing. You need to be a good swimmer and to be comfortable in a canoe/kayak and in lake water. This course requires on-line prerequisite course work. Please print and bring with you the online certificates as proof of completion. Once you are registered, we will send you the link for the online course work.  You should bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, water shoes or old tennis shoes that can get wet and a sack lunch.  This training is for adults and girls 15 years and over.
